5D4N KALIMANTAN: ORANGUTAN & DAYAK TOUR

 

 

DAY 1: AIRPORT - KUMAI - TANJUNG HARAPAN

The tour starts at 11.00.We will pick you up from airport or hotel in Pangkalan Bunand then drive to Kumai by taxi (approximately 30 minutes), passing several villages. Upon arrival in Kumai, boat up the river to explore the great mangrove, nipah palm,and wildlife along the Sekonyer river while lunch is prepared on the boat.Prepare yourself for the first encounter with the Orangutan, after shorttrekking in Borneo Jungle we will meet the giant ape in Tanjung Harapan Camp.Get your camera ready, not only during the feeding, sometimes we could see the wild Orangutan swinging between the tree on our way.Late afternoon, observe the proboscis monkey and other primates along theriver.Overnight on the boat. DAY 2: PONDOK TANGGUI - CAMP LEAKEY - NIPAH AREA

After early breakfast, boat up to Pondok Tanggui Camp to witnessorangutan feeding around 9 am. Upon arrival at Pondok Tanggui, wewalk to feeding area. After orangutan feeding, we can take a shorttrekking in the forest then proceed to Camp Leakey which takes about 1,5– 2 hours by boat. After lunch, you will have a chance to take anothershort trekking or see information center before witnessing orangutans’feeding time around 2 pm.After visiting Camp Leakey, we boat down slowly to Nipa Palm Areawhere you can see beautiful fireflies at night when the weather is good. On the way there, we can still observe the monkeys, birds, and other animals.Dinner and sleep on the boat. (B, L, D)

 

DAY 3: KUMAI - DAYAK VILLAGE

Go back to Kumai port after breakfast and driving to the Villagewhich takes about 5 hours. Pass several villages, palm oilplantation, rubber plantation, local community’s plantation andforest. We will stop for lunch on the way.Upon arrival at the Village, we will take you to the longhouse foryour accommodation. We will have a chance to walk around thevillage and observe the daily life there. After dinner, the villagers will hit their gong or play one of their musical instruments and gather together for a simple welcomeceremony.Expect a lot of people to join in. Overnight at homestay. DAY 4: DAYAK VILLAGE - TREKKING - PANGKALAN BUN

After breakfast, we can go to the forest and trek for severalhours. The villagers in this village reject the palm oilplantation so the forest surrounding is still in goodcondition. Back to the village. After packing our luggage,drive back to Pangkalan Bun by car. Upon arrival atPangkalan Bun, transfer to hotel. Free program at your own leisure. Overnight at the hotel. DAY 5: HOTEL - AIRPORT

After breakfast, transfer by car to Pangkalan Bun airportfor your next destination. (B)
